Janneke van de Wijgert is a clinical epidemiologist and Professor at the Julius Center, University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands, and the Institute of Infection and Global Health, University of Liverpool, UK. She has worked on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections for twenty five years, and the current focus of her research is the role of the human microbiome in reproductive and neonatal health, and in chronic infections and inflammatory conditions.
