Shannon Weiman earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Diego, specializing in microbiology and immunology. She then pivoted to a career in scientific communications as a freelance biomedical writer, where she worked with research leaders in academic, industry and government sectors to showcase scientific advances, programs and initiatives-- including Stanford University’s Biomedical Innovation Initiative, UC San Francisco’s QB3 Department, the University of Colorado’s Biofrontiers Program, Abcam, the US FDA and the American Society for Microbiology. Shannon joined the Keystone Symposia team as Scientific Communications Manager in 2019.
