Eric Ortlund, PhD

Emory University School of Medicine

Dr. Ortlund received his B.S. and Ph.D. at the University of South Carolina and followed this with postdoctoral research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Ortlund joined the Department of Biochemistry at Emory in September 2008 and currently serves as an Associate Professor. His research has focused on lipid signaling through both lipid transport proteins and nuclear hormone receptors. His lab has also made important contributions towards our understanding of how steroid receptors evolved their ability to recognize both ligands and DNA. In addition to running his own lab, Dr. Ortlund serves as the Scientific Director of the Emory Integrated Lipidomics Core.
