Alfredo Ulloa-Aguirre, M.D., D.Sc. is a physician-scientist, internationally-recognized leader in the reproductive endocrinology area for his studies on the structure-function relationships of pituitary gonadotropins, gonadotropin receptors, and the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor. His current research interests include the study of molecular and biochemical aspects of the pituitary gonadotropins, with special focus on the role of FSH glycans in ligand-receptor interaction and intracellular signaling; the study of naturally occurring mutations leading to misfolded GnRHR and FSHR as a cause of disease; and the study of the mechanisms subserving the intracellular traffic of gonadotropin receptors in health and disease. He is currently the Scientific Director of the Research Support Network of the National University of Mexico (UNAM)-Mexican National Institutes of Health Consortium, and Emeritus Scientist of the National Research System (CONACyT) of Mexico.
