Understanding role of regulatory noncoding RNAs in oxidative stress responses

An important challenge is understanding how changes to RNA expression and oxidations are manifested during recovery from various types of oxidative stresses. We are currently applying discovery methods based on the collection and analysis of large-scale datasets to uncover post-transcriptional regulators that play important roles in complex stress-responses. This screencast highlights progress on two model systems that we are currently examining: recovery from acute ionizing radiation stress in D. radiodurans (an extremophilic bacteria) and response to environmental air toxins in model epithelial human lung cells. We feature a variety of regulatory RNA features that we have been uncovering and studying in this context.
