Lemu Golassa received his B.Sc in Biology, M.Sc in Medical Parasitology and Ph.D in Tropical and Infectious Diseases from Addis Ababa University (AAU). At present, he a postdoc fellow of Developing Excellence in Leadership and Genetic Training for Malaria Elimination (DELGEME) in sub-Saharan Africa and ed the Head of Medical Parasitology Research Unit at Aklilu
Lemma Institute of Pathobiology, Addis Ababa University. Dr Lemu has published more than 30 scientific papers on peer reviewed international journals. He has been collaborating with many African scientists as far as malaria research is concerned. He is the PI for H3Africa for the PAMGEN project for the site in Ethiopia under the PAMGEN project led by Dr. Alfred Amambua-Ngwa. Apart from teaching and mentoring of Graduate Students, he has also been engaged to research activities primarily targeting Infectious Diseases since 2009. Malaria, a number one killer parasitic disease in the country, is his major research priority with specific interest on the asymptomatic malaria, antimalarial drug resistance, genetic diversity and population structure of Plasmodium falciparum and P. vivax.
