Dr. Heather Jaspan is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Global Health at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Research Institute and an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She received her MD and PhD at Tulane University, and her Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease Training at University of Washington. Her labs located both in Seattle and Cape Town utilize human cohorts and clinical trials, as well as mouse models, to interrogate translational immunology and microbiology of mucosal surfaces, including the infant gut and the male and female genital tracts, with a further focus on infant immune ontogeny.
