Ajoke Sobanjo-ter Meulen, MD, Dr. med., MSc, is a Senior Program Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she leads the cross-cutting Maternal Immunization Initiative, focused on advancing the science and implementation of vaccines given to pregnant women via industry, academia and global health partners. She also leads the foundation’s Group B streptococcus Vaccine Development Program focusing on the development and licensure of cost-effective GBS vaccine to reduce neonatal and maternal mortality in low- and low-middle-income countries. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ajoke serves as the co-chair of the COVAX Maternal Immunization Working Group. The aim of this working group is to enable the evaluation and utilization of COVID-19 vaccine in pregnant and lactating women.
