An early career medical entomologist with special interest in the behaviour and ecology of mosquito vectors of medical importance. Her PhD thesis was focused on developing and evaluating a range of insecticides that either kill or repel mosquitoes that transmit malaria. Some of the assays developed during her PhD research are in the current WHOPES guidelines for testing spatial repellents. In the bid to develop effective affordable, easy to use mosquito control tools against outdoor bites, she was involved in a project at Ifakara Health Institute, Tanzania which focused on the development of a simple practical low-technology hand treated emanator that can be used by people living in rural areas to protect against a range bites of mosquito-borne diseases including Zika, Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya that mainly bite outdoors where effective long-term personal protection tools are lacking.
