Dr. Gabriella Scarlatti, MD, PhD, is the Science Director of the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise in New York, USA and the Head of research at the Viral Evolution and Transmission Unit at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Italy. Dr. Scarlatti is also an Associate Professor at the Microbiology and Tumorbiology Center at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. Dr. Scarlatti’s research interests include studying the pathogenic mechanisms that drive viral transmission at mucosal sites and B-cell responses. In particular, Dr. Scarlatti focuses on the mechanisms of HIV transmission from mothers to children as well as disease progression in children and adults. Dr. Scarlatti has also published over 110 peer-reviewed publications and is an editorial board member for the New Microbiologica, Journal of Translation Medicine, Frontier in Immunology, HIV/AIDS and Virology journals.
