Carole R. Mendelson, PhD

Carole R. Mendelson received a B.S. in Biology from City College of New York and a Ph.D. in Zoology from Rutgers University. She was a postdoctoral and Staff Fellow at the NIH. She joined the faculty of UT Southwestern in 1978, where she is Professor of Biochemistry and Obstetrics & Gynecology and Director of the North Texas March of Dimes Birth Defects Center. Her scientific career is devoted to studying molecular mechanisms in developmental and hormonal regulation of key genes in perinatal biology and female reproduction. Her research has been continuously funded by the NIH since 1982. She held an NIH MERIT Award, was recipient of the Roy O. Greep Award for Outstanding Research and the Sidney H. Ingbar Distinguished Service Award of The Endocrine Society, Mentor Award from Women in Endocrinology, Frederick Naftolin Award for Mentorship and President’s Distinguished Scientist Award of the Society for Reproductive Investigation.
