Erik Inglesson, MD, PhD, received his medical degree and his PhD in Epidemiology from Uppsala University, in Uppsala, Sweden. He then completed a research fellowship at the Framingham Heart Study, Boston University School of Medicine in Cardiovascular Medicine. Dr. Ingelsson is a Professor of Medicine and, by courtesy, of Health Research and Policy. His research focuses on cardiology with a special focus on the role of obesity and insulin resistance in the development of subclinical and clinical cardiovascular disease. Dr. Inglesson’s work is translational and interdisciplinary, combining big data approaches with gene editing in functional model systems to obtain new biomarkers for risk prediction and for the discovery of novel targets for drug development.
