Matloob Husain PhD

Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Otago

Dr. Matloob Husain obtained his PhD from India and subsequently postdoctoral training at National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. At present, Dr Husain is a Senior Lecturer in Virology and studies the molecular basis of influenza virus-host interactions with a goal of developing host-directed antiviral therapies. Dr Husain has identified the role of a family of host proteins known as histone deacetylases in influenza virus infection. His group continues to study the molecular basis of the interplay of influenza virus with host histone deacetylases.
