Brought up in Zambia, where he was home-schooled in the remote town of Mulobezi, Roli Roberts returned to the UK at the age of 11. He studied biochemistry at the University of Oxford and did his PhD in genetics at Guy’s Hospital in London. After Postdoctoral Fellowships at King’s College London and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he returned to the UK as a Principal Investigator (Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer) for 13 years at King’s College London. He moved to Cambridge and became an Editor at PLOS Biology in 2011. As well as handling manuscripts, Roli oversees PLOS Biology’s homepage and social media.
