Prof. Ravi Kumar Gutti is currently working as Professor of Biochemistry, in University of Hyderabad. He obtained his Doctorate degree in the area of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from IARI, New Delhi in 2003. He has received NIH Fogarty fellowship 2004-2008 and Harvard Medical School fellowship 2008-2010 for biomedical training. He has guided 4 students for their PhD degrees. He has published 40 research papers in international journals. He has completed 14 major projects. He has received many awards such as Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award by DBT (2011), ICMR Tilak Venkoba Rao Award in Physiology (2012), Royal Society Award (UK) for Established Scientists (2017) and Chancellor’s Award of University of Hyderabad (2018) for making significant contributions to teaching and research. His expertise is in gene regulation and stem cell biology. His current research is focused on understanding the molecular regulation of developmental megakaryocytopoiesis (platelet production) with emphasis on the role of non-coding RNA. He would like to explore the mechanisms regulating the developmental changes in miRNA and lncRNA expression, which are currently not understood.
